Welcome to my life - in blog format!

Ok, welcome to my life!  Here it goes...

I am the mom of four amazing boys, ages 12, twins who are 9, and an 8 year old.  They are the reason I am here on Earth.  I love spending time with them and I just love it when they are out of school over the summer and over vacations.  It amazes me to hear parents say that they can't wait for school to start again so their kids can go back and be out of their hair.  My boys are good kids and I really enjoy spending all the time I can with them.  I love taking them to do fun stuff because they behave well (about 99% of the time - I will be honest - sometimes meltdowns happen!).  Nothing else in my life has come as close to making me nearly as happy as being a mom.

As for me, I run a childcare business and love it.  There are days I would like to pull my hair out and when the paper comes, I start to scan the "help wanted" ads, but I have yet to even make a phone call or turn in an application somewhere because I truly love what I do and I feel that I am making a real difference in the lives of not only the kids, but their families as a whole.

It is nice when you have a job that makes you feel valued and respected, and while sometimes people use the term "babysitter" (never use that term for a daycare provider, trust me, even if they don't say anything to you, they silently want to smack you upside the head - babysitting is what 12 year olds do) most of us feel that the term "childcare provider" or "daycare teacher" or something similar are more appropriate to describe what we do.  Most daycares teach the children lots of different things on a daily basis and plan our days well in advance with activities, projects, and opportunities for the children to learn something new everyday.  It is not just opening the door in the morning and turning on the TV, changing a diaper and making lunch then waiting for the kids to get picked up again.  Anyway, enough of my rant.  :)

I have awesome families in my daycare right now and that makes my job run much more smoothly.  I have a three year old, a two year old, an 18 month old, a 12 month old and a 2 month old right now.  And, in keeping with tradition for my house, they are all boys!  Which I actually don't mind.  I have had little girls in my daycare in the past, and that was great, but the boys have grown up together (I have had all of them from birth except for one who started at 6 months) and they get along really well.  They make me laugh all the time.  It is nice to be loved so unconditionally like small children love the important people in their lives.

So that is my life in a nutshell.

Jealous? Listening to the sound of a pin dropping...

Anyone?  I think I just heard a cricket sneeze...

Ok, fine, but I like my life just fine!!!
